Yes, I did use LS.
But my motive was not to jump the line as I told my company attorney to purposefully find an LC from this year or last year. And since it was a multibillion dollar company with some xx thousand employees. They were able to find one.
Not everyone's motives is to jump the line. I did this because I didnt want to wait another 10 years to apply for I 485.
And on the top, dont even think that all who did LS were able to jump the line. LS involves lot of scrutiny and it was always safer to use one's own labor.
Its so funny that some people think that people who cannot prove themselves for what ever reasons (education etc) with their own labor use LS. hehehe. This is even more riskier.
And it was always legal to do it. And may be many people and employers misused it. Shout at those people.
As for me, my labor was going nowhere and the company with which I worked for the past few years found an LS for me which was from last year PD and I do not regret doing it.
And I bet, people who had an opportunity like me would do it.
And also, THE THREAD WAS NOT OPENED WITH A TITLE "WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ABOUT LS, SHOULD IT BE BANNED". There were a number of threads on this forum where you can show these kinds of opinions. This thread was opened for a different purpose.

My infopass appointment was this afternoon. NC cleared. All the IO said was I should wait as there were many applications filed on 7/2/2007.
I mentioned once that 2006 cases are getting approved and with my PD being in 2004 when should I expect to get my 485 approved. All I heard back was WAIT :mad:.
Not sure how long though. Been seven years since I filed, first in 2001 and then again in 2004. Looks like a never ending wait.

That is right, no need to file I-485 again. The format of I-485 has nothing to do with this. I am assuming he is just trying to make money by doing the additional paper work. A couple of my colleagues got their GCs that way in July and my employer is also in the process of filing my EB-2 I-140 under Premium Processing this week with a request to port my earlier EB-3 PD and a letter to USCIS requesting to adjudicate my pending I-485 under EB-2 preference, once EB-2 I-140 is approved. In my colleague's case, TSC approved both Eb-2 I-140 and pending I-485 (was at TSC as well) concurrently in July.

I closed my PPF account twice and never paid a single paisa. The second one I closed when I was in US and got the forms here through my old employer and Signed and send those form back to that employer , they filed it, Don'y know if they attached "NOC" but I got all of my money (close to INR80K) in 2 or 3 weeks at my home address in India.
I guess no one needs to pay money for to PPF in any state all you need tyo do is follow the proper instructions, It's as good as in any bank.

so you don't see a difference in how a private organization and a non-profit organization operates. Well here are some:
1. In your office, you are actually working for your boss and you are getting paid to do what they want you to do. I don't remember getting any pay check from IV. In fact, I have written several checks to IV. This doesn't mean I can post whatever I want but as long as I am following IV guidelines, I shouldn't get harassed by folks like you who think that their post is the only important post.
2. If you don't do what you are told at work, they'll fire your a&& and you wouldn’t know how to pay your bills next month. That's why the CEO or your boss don't have to send you a one liner before they take any decision.
As far as I know, IV is just a group of people coming together to address a problem which is shared by all members. I know that some people have worked harder than others and some people have contributed more than others but everyone has contributed one way or the other. So for you to come out and say that you are the only one doing all the work and others are just doing nothing and some how you are the CEO of this organization is just beyond my imagination. May be it's time you wake up and smell the coffee.

Thanks to every person who answered this post. I managed to get an appointment in mumbai for Aug 2nd. This will give enough time to send necessary document from my end and also give enough breathing to file the application.

I would like to know How to file a complaint about labor fraud? I just found out that my employer didn't file 485 for me and instead he used the labor for someone else. Is there anyway I can file a complaint? I have no other option except to wait until the dates are current again. I paid all the expenses for labor, 140 and 485.

Believe it or not, I was about to open a thread like this. And here is the worst part, my AP has been approved 10 days ago, and so far neither the online status changed to approved nor i have received the approval copy. 2 ways I found out my AP was approved was through my local congressman and I took an infopass appointment. In the info pass appointment when I asked what is causing the delay in sending an approved AP, the officer says, if you did not get the approval notice in 45 days, call us back. This after waiting for more than 90days from the date of application. So, its not there until you have it in hand. Merely getting an approval these days is not enough, since they take anywhere upto 45 days to send the approval to you.

You're right, the point I was making is the real intention of these Senators...When you want to scr.ew somebody you ask questions that are hard and mostly unanswerable....Take this example, Look at the requirement that Hyderabad Consulate has put up for H1B Visa Stamping, it sounds like they are saying don't you dare!!!
Such an escalated tone has been established due to various reasons, based on the fact that there is documented evidence of some abuse. It is not to scare every h1b visa holder.
See - people are writing so many posts their their friend is having trouble in h1b , friends friend is having trouble in POE etc... but none of them are original posts. Just look around yourself and your friends - check to see if anyone really got screwed (genuine folks) - there may be some people who got additional grilling and that's it.
People are still traveling everyday and getting stamping and no issues at POE.
Like I said earlier "unless you set the ass on fire those who abuse will not straighten themselves" - greed overtakes any good forward thought.
Senators are not your own country senators and we cannot influence their thoughts or feel bad about what they think about h1b visa. All we do is make a case for ourselves that we are genuine and really interested in following the system.
AFAIK every h1b and GC case has been dealt with on a case to case basis and people who have really followed rules did not have much issues - we continue to follow the system because we believe in it.
